Folk Group Marmolèda
Grop de Bal Marmolèda
The Grop de Bal Marmolèda was founded in the spring of 1993 by a group of young people from Rocca Pietore, who were interested into reviving the Ladin traditions and folklore. Its name was inspired by one of the most representative mountains of the Dolomites: the Marmolada.
This little group, grown in number and in quality through the years, began to recover the Ladin typical dances enquiring the senior citizens of the municipality and discovering dances that they thought to be lost. They decided to wear the traditional clothing, which dated back to the period between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Then, they choreographed the old dances, and on original musics, they began to perform, having more and more success. As they dance, the dancers use sometimes even old working tools, as when they keep the rythm with brooms in the waltz “L Bal de chel bèrba da Muiei”, which is well known and appreciated even outside the Ladin region.
Other characteristics of this group are the high amount of young members, who keep the group very active and dynamic, and the involvement of the public, which at every performance is surprised and amazed, discovering a little bit more this little world enchased in the Dolomites.
