Climbs....
...and for the brave ones , the sixth degree climbers, we suggest some of the most classical climbs on the Marmolada South Wall.

VIA FERRATA DELLE TRINCEE
Reaching 2,727 metres
Boldly climbs along the steep volcanic rocks of Mésola, one of the most demanding mountaineering route in the Dolomites.
Climb time: 4-5 hours.

VIA FERRATA DELLA MARMOLADA – CRESTA OVEST
Climbs to 3,343 metres
Classic climb, in good weather conditions not a very demanding climb, reaching the top of the tallest mountain in the Dolomites. For the descend on the glacier, suitable equipment is vitally important.
Climb time: 5-8 hours.

VIA FERRATA ETERNA (CHIUSA)

Climbs to 1,614 metres
Rock towers rising above Laste in the Cordevole river valley. Vertical walls 30 to 50 metres high. The top is a meadow scattered with trees, where you can even find a mountain hut with a very charming name: Bivacco Pian delle Stelle (“Plain of the Stars Hut”), which makes you think that the place is visited at night, too. In fact at night it seems you can almost touch the stars; and by day the main attraction is the spectacular view of the Civetta group.
A mini route with fixed ropes: short but original.

VIA FERRATA SASS DE ROCIA
Arrivo 1.614 mt.
Mini-ferrata, tanto breve quanto originale.

Via Tomasson
covering over 800 metres with a 600 metre difference in level. Max difficulty of 4 + (D) to reach Punta Penia.

Via Vinatzer-Castiglioni
covering over 1,000 metres with a 800 metre difference in level. Max difficulty 6+ (TD) to reach Punta Rocca.

Via Don Quixotte
covering 950 metres with a 750 metre difference in level. Max difficulty 6 (D+) to reach Marmolda d’Ombretta.

…but for people who do not wish to climb along vertical paths, reaching Malga Ombretta via a mule track is equally worthwhile. From there among the lowing of gentle cows and the delicate fragrance of shy flowers, the view of the towering white South Face can give a taste of a forgotten serenity.
