Na ota, la nòsta mont pi bela, la Marmolèda, no l'eiva duta scuèrta de giaz, come che l'ei el didancuoi. Dute le crepe i eva bele verde, creséva su tant de bela erba che, le vate che magnéva de chel fegn le ava tant pi lat de dute chele autre. L'eva chi da Staguda che sieva i prèi de la Marmolèda. Co l'eva via per d'istè i se toléva el fagòt su la schina e i se `n jiva sa mont. La sù i ava i tabièi e duc i vardéva de féi in presa a restelè percèche colasù, vegniva fret delongo.......
 
A long time ago, our most beautiful mountain, Marmolada, was not entirely covered by glaciers like it is today. Leggende The rocks were covered in tall green grass, that was so good that cows eating it produced more milk than all the others. The people from Sottoguda cut and collected the hay on the Marmolada meadows. During the summer, they spent a long time on its slopes because that’s where they kept their small barns that allow them to quickly shelter the hay collected, because up there the cold weather came very early….
